Simple Tips
Installing Your Tire Chains
01
Test fit your chains before you need them. Be sure you have the correct chains for your tire size. Consult your owner’s manual if you are unsure.
02
Lay the chains out flat on the ground to untangle and inspect them for irregularities. Make sure they are not twisted or knotted.
03
Install the tire chains on the drive wheels of your vehicle, which are typically the front wheels for front-wheel drive vehicles and the rear wheels for rear-wheel drive vehicles.
04
Check for proper clearance of your vehicle. Then, drive a short distance and check the chains to make sure they are properly secured and adjusted. Never drive over 30 MPH.
Really haven’t had a chance to use them but they are easier to mount than my old chains.
These are really good chains but offer a discount on your chain tighteners would be a really nice option.
I ordered a set of 4 Diamond V-Bar ATV chains in 27-9.00-14 for my Volvo V70XC and they essentially fit perfectly on the OEM 195/65R16 all season tires. I did have to remove the excess links once they were fitted, and replace the “inside” cam lever with a 3/16 quick link (the supplied ones were too small and weak to be used in this manner) for clearance from the front strut tower/spring cup and the rear trailing arm, but with the spring tensioners they now work perfectly! (Get a T-handle trampoline spring puller – it makes placing the springs a lot easier)
