Simple Tips
Installing Your Tire Chains
01
Test fit your chains before you need them. Be sure you have the correct chains for your tire size. Consult your owner’s manual if you are unsure.
02
Lay the chains out flat on the ground to untangle and inspect them for irregularities. Make sure they are not twisted or knotted.
03
Install the tire chains on the drive wheels of your vehicle, which are typically the front wheels for front-wheel drive vehicles and the rear wheels for rear-wheel drive vehicles.
04
Check for proper clearance of your vehicle. Then, drive a short distance and check the chains to make sure they are properly secured and adjusted. Never drive over 30 MPH.
I don’t think I will order the diamond style again. Instead of just 2 points to fasten with the ladder style of chains, there are 4 points. Two of them with small screw-pin shackles to connect. Don’t plan to put these on outside in the dirt or mud with gloves on. Trade off is the diamond style assures that the chains don’t disappear down between deep lugs on the tires if you have that style of tire.
Loren,
Thank you for your review and we’re sorry for the confusion. You should have received an electronic invoice when your order shipped. This would have had the information on which SKU # (printed on the black bags) went with the specific tire size. Sometimes the invoices get caught in SPAM filters. You are correct on the diamond patterns being a bit more complicated to install. As you mentioned, the trade-off is a more universal coverage over the tread face that will prevent it from falling between the lugs. As always, our representatives are available if you need any further help! 866-437-5883
