It’s important to understand the difference between patterns and how they effect traction.
When you’re purchasing your chains, keep in mind that tire coverage matters a lot. The more the pattern covers your tires, and therefore makes more contact with the ground, the more traction you should expect.

Link styles are the design of the individual chain links that make up the chain. You’ll notice some are more common for certain terrain or vehicle types.

You will want to check to make sure your vehicle wheel well has proper clearance for the tire chains you purchase. Our SAE clearance guide should help you identify which kinds of tire chains you can purchase.
